On July 29, 1890, Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh died aged 37. He didn’t start painting until his late 20s, but created nearly 900 works – an average of about two per week. He is regarded as one of the world’s greatest ever artists, with paintings such as ‘Starry Night’, ‘Sunflowers’ and ‘Self Portrait’. However, it wasn’t until after his death that he became well known.
