::
On July 29, 1890, Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh died aged 37. He didn’t start painting until his late 20s, but created nearly 900 works – an average of about two per week. He is regarded as one of the world’s greatest ever artists, with paintings such as ‘Starry Night’, ‘Sunflowers’ and ‘Self Portrait’. However, it wasn’t until after his death that he became well known.

::
On the same day in 1904, J.R.D. Tata was born. He was one of India’s most remarkable business people. Aged 28, he set up India’s first airline, which later became the country’s national carrier – Air India. Tata’s global enterprise, Tata Group, is now one of India’s biggest and oldest industrial groups.

Did any words catch your attention? Firstly, a ‘global enterprise’ is a company that operates around the world. What’s more, Van Gogh was a ‘Post-Impressionist’ artist, which means he was part of the ‘Post-Impressionism’ movement in France. These artists were more interested in showing emotion than realism in their work.
