On July 29, 1890, Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh died aged 37. He didn’t start painting until his late 20s, but he created nearly 900 works – an average of about two per week. He posthumously became recognized as one of the world’s greatest ever artists, with paintings such as ‘Starry Night’, ‘Sunflowers’ and ‘Self Portrait’.

On the same day in 1904, J.R.D. Tata was born. He was one of India’s most remarkable business people. As an aviation pioneer, he established India’s first airline, which later became the country’s national carrier – Air India. Tata oversaw the ambitious expansion of his global enterprise, Tata Group, which is now one of India’s biggest and oldest industrial groups.
