Ted: Recycling waste, bringing the community together and creating something beautiful, all while inspiring the next generation. That’s the feat of a young Venezuelan artist, and the idea behind his ‘eco’ mural. The colorful macaws are the eyecatcher, “die farbenfrohen Aras sind der Hingucker”, and the oversized work, “das überdimensionale Werk”, makes use of more than 300,000 plastic bottle caps. But artist Oscar Olivares isn’t alone in this venture, and relies on the support of young and old, “auf die […] Unterstützung von Jung und Alt setzt”, to create the mural. Via social media, he’s invited allies, or “Mitstreiter”, to contribute their pieces of trash, “ihre […] Müllteilchen […] einzubringen”. He hopes the creation is a motivation, “ein Ansporn” for youngsters who want to become artists.
