The German government has introduced a new public transport ticket that allows holders to travel on all regional trains Germany-wide for just 9 Euros per month in June, July and August this year. The ticket is part of the relief package, “Teil des Entlastungspakets”, that was proposed by the traffic light coalition, “der Ampel-Koalition”, named such due to the traditional colors of the governing parties: red, yellow, and green. The ticket is meant to counteract the rising cost of fuel, “die Kosten für Kraftstoff”. The decision on the ticket came after a lot of wrestling, “nach langem Ringen”, but according to the travelers we’ll hear from in the clip, it was well worth it: they’re happy about the ticket, and one says he thinks that it’ll get more people to switch to train travel, “dass viele Leute dadurch […] auf die Bahn umspringen”.
