In some places, the German Weather Service, “der Deutsche Wetterdienst”, predicted temperatures of up to 31 degrees Celsius, or 88 degrees Fahrenheit. In Frankfurt am Main, many people were lured into the pedestrian zones and the ice cream parlors, “in die Fußgängerzone und die Eisdielen”.
